Kim says:

In 2025, my mission was clear: become a professional bookseller.
I’ve always believed in investing deeply in my craft and when I decided to open a culinary bookstore, I knew I would need to a strong strategic plan to build a thriving specialty bookstore. But juggling a full-time job and running a bookstore meant I needed support. That’s when I discovered the Professional Booksellers School (PBS), and it changed everything.
After certifying in Basic Bookselling via independent study, I dove headfirst into the other three PBS core courses. It was a true bookseller bootcamp—and exactly what I needed. PBS helped me overhaul our inventory system, strengthen my relationship with our accountant and bookkeeper, and even launch our signature Talk & Taste event series for our culinary bookstore.
I never imagined I’d be sitting on local daytime television next week, announcing our Fall Author Series featuring eight cookbook and nonfiction authors visiting Buffalo, NY. PBS gave me the tools, confidence, and community to make that happen—and I’ll be forever grateful.

Now, when my staff express interest, I proudly enroll them in PBS classes too. Because investing in your team is just as important as investing in yourself.
