Congratulations to Our 8th Fully Certified Bookseller!

Posted By: Elliott PBS News from PBS,

The Professional Booksellers School is delighted to celebrate our 8th Fully Certified Bookseller - Maggie Foster,Assistant Manager at The Book Nook in Brenham, Texas.

Maggie completed Basic Bookselling when it was taught for the first time in 2022, Inventory Management in 2024,  Event Management in 2025, and Store & Operations Management in 2026. Professional bookselling is a multi-year journey, and our Fully Certified Booksellers show that dedication!

Our upper-level courses are demanding, as our Instructors have distilled their years of experience into focused learning and homework that helps booksellers build knowledge and resources, such a creating a store's publicity kit, operations handbook, buying schedule, financial dashboard, and emergency plan. To become a Fully Certified Bookseller is to have put in hours of work, and to have fully invested in yourself and your store.

Maggie says:

Five year ago I started as a baby bookseller, with no previous bookselling experience. While I have been very lucky to work with our store owner, a career bookseller herself, I was also fortunate enough to learn other industry practices from PBS. Becoming fully certified was a goal I set for myself after being a part of the inaugural Basic Bookselling class, and I have been very pleased to finally achieve what I set out to. I've learned so much over these years, and grown into confidence in myself as a bookseller and leader in my store. I have also had the luck to be able to meet several other booksellers from across the country in person from the courses I've taken & it's been lovely to experience that camaraderie in person.
