Meet Jessica Green, Our 3rd Fully Certified Bookseller!

This month, bookstore owner Jessica Green became our 3rd Fully Certified Bookseller by gaining certification in Event Management, Basic Bookselling, Store & Operations Management, and Inventory Management. Her store, Mrs. Dalloway's Literary & Garden Arts, is in Berkeley, CA. PBS and CALIBA are both so proud of her achievement!

Jessica says:

I was lucky to have gained ownership of a well-established, 17-year old, indie bookstore but as with all organizations, there is always room for improvement and enhancement. Personally, I started from scratch, with no book industry experience. The Professional Bookseller School courses cover all aspects of this unique business structure. I learned so much about how to run a successful book store, confirmed and improved on processes and procedures, and walked away with actionable ideas and projects to conform to my store's specific needs. To be honest, these courses are pretty hard-core and challenging but well worth all of the work required. I built a publicity kit and event management program that has led to significant growth in recognition, community outreach, and sales. I learned about and implemented inventory management structures to enhance our assortments, curation, and viability. I improved our hiring, review, and emergency processes to build a strong, supported and safe staff. And so much more. The instructors in each course bring their experience and knowledge to each session, offer one-on-one accessibility throughout each course, and are open and candid with tips and tricks. These courses have enabled mentorship-type relationships that will live on for years to come. We are lucky to have the Professional Booksellers School to offer such extensive knowledge about this unique industry.
