Coming This Fall - Bookstore Year One

Posted By: Elliott batTzedek News from PBS,
The Professional Booksellers School has a great new project in development: Bookstore Year One!  This will be year-long learning community for newstore owners; new members can join any month and stay for the full year. Each month we'll be covering a different topic, with videos and other learning materials created by experienced owners, then meetings via Zoom to ask questions and get advice.

The course is designed for brick-and-mortar, pop-up, and mobile stores, but not for online-only businesses or resellers.

We're creating this because we know how hard the first year is, and that systems and habits you establish up front will diminish problems and increase your bottom line as you grow. A bookstore must be open before an owner can join. The first time we offer this we'll be inviting stores open three years or less; after the first year, it will be for new stores only.

The instructors will be experienced store owners from across the US, led by Dean Dionne Sims.  Owners that are interested may register now for our Early Interest List - they'll be the first to know about dates and updates, and be offered a private pre-enrollment period.
The first year's cohort will be offered a significant price saving. Sign up now and you'll be the first to receive updates.

We are still working on the exact topics and their order, but the 12 month cycle will definitely include:
Productivity/Time Management
Inventory
Knowing Your Financials
Values & Vision
Back Room Operations
Marketing & Customer Engagement
Events
Sales & Merchandising
Technology (POS, website, etc)
Building Your Team (reps, vendors, industry resources)
Managing Peak Season
