The 2026 course in Basic Bookselling starts on Tuesday, March 10 at 7 pm ET/ 6 pm CT/ 5 pm MT / 4 pm PT.
The course has 10 classes and an office hour week and will run through May 19, 2026.

How the Course Works
- The course is limited to 60 students, with no more than two employees from each store.
- The content is relevant to brick-and-mortar, pop-up, mobile, and hybrid model stores. It is not appropriate for online-only stores or resellers.
- The course meets live via Zoom. Classes are recorded and recordings are sent out after each class.
- Students will be assigned weekly homework and have a final project presented live in the last class.
- Each class covers a different topic and can include guest speakers from the industry.
- Students and teachers will communicate in a Discord server. Discord is free to join, and an invitation will be emailed to students before the course begins. Students also receive a twice-weekly newsletters with information about the class

Basic Bookselling is intended as a primer for booksellers with a year or less experience. It introduces the industry and teaches the skills necessary to be a frontline booksellers. It is not a course for people looking for information on how to open a bookstore.
PLEASE NOTE: Before you register you must join PBS as a member. Membership is free. Students must be owners or employees of stores that are members in good standing of the ABA and/or their Regional Trade Association

Classes are on Tuesday nights at 7:00 pm ET / 6:00 pm ET / 4:00 pm PT. Each class is 60 minutes. Class dates are:
